Another idea:
Maybe review the pros and cons of switching to 2.4Ghz radios on the Tamiya tanks?
There is an Article on the DAK website about customizing the Spektrum DX6. We have a club member who may have figured out how to put the Tamiya to "Sleep" when it is knocked out of a battle, as convetional radios do when the Tx is turned off. Otherwise the Spektrum tanks reset and can still take hits. Should be posting a link within a few days. I want to try it on my tank BEFORE I recommend it to everyone else.
Make sure you order the BR6000 Rx, not AR6000.
Quick Pros
No worrying about frequencies
Short Rx antenna can easliy hid in the tank - about 2" long.
Short Tx antenna - hinged
No glitching
6 Channel radio gives you a spare channel (one used to put the tank to sleep)
Programmable
Quick Cons
Cost more than a cheap 4 channel radio
Tx battery life is limited out of the box - upgrade battery or replace voltage regulator ($16 - soldering required)
Need to use a fifth channel to "Sleep" the tank
Programmable - This can be a blessing AND a curse
If someone doesn't beat us to it, I am sure a DAK or SCAT member will write up a review.
