wow, I had a whole reply typed, and when I pushed post, your General boat thread was already deleted.... Try not to double post your questions, someone will be with you shortly.
so here we go again..
uhhh... I can't remember what I was saying....
Oh yeah, for the LST, I cut polystyrene rigid insulation to height, and then sandwiched the foam between 1.6mm plywood. The plywood floors or deck can then be glued down to each other, or screwed together from below.

For the fire boat, I built up some bulwarks to keep water sloshing over the deck from coming down the deck house opening.
Then I cut the sides for the deck house from 1.6mm plywood and boxed that together.
For the pilot house, I stick framed the angles to sized horizontal plates, and then custom cut the panels for each section from styrene sheet.
The USS Florikan ASR-9 deck houses used plywood spacing blocks to create the correct height spacing for the floor and ceiling plates. The levels were then sheeted with 1.6mm balsawood. Sanding sealer or satin finish laquer can be brushed on the balsa to fill and finish the grain to a nice smooth look.
I hope that gives you some ideas. [8D]
