No, it does not need a power source to remember the freqency it was on. You may want to send the receiver into your local service center to have it checked out.

HI, received my 12FG yesterday, had a wee play and absolutely love it so far.
One question, does the 5114 rx need a source of power to remember its freq?
It seems everytime I unplug the battery I need to reset the freq for it.
