The UCD is down right the easiest plane to hover. It was designed to do that. A SA plane is not designed to hover, however its all in the thumbs. Remember, shorter moment and the control surfaces are not a big as on the UCD. Right thrust can make a difference. Prop choice will determine if you can find the "sweet spot" on the throttle or if you need to work the throttle.
