No need to use the purple primer for this application.

The intent of the purple primer is so a plumbing inspector
can see if the plumber had primed his pipe prior to gluing it.

The primer is used to clean and prepare the fitting for PVC
cement. It is not intended to be used as a bonding agent.

Primer is not needed to secure the PVC for a non plumbing
application, just use standard clear PVC cement.

Terry, thanks much better idea than foam. I guess it's glued up using PVC epoxy over that horrible smelling purple cleaner? Is that schedule 40 pipe your using? Mikel-T
