With quickies I use about 10% expo, but its really a personal thing. IF you like 35%, use it, it really won't hurt anything.
Bob gave the best advice, use the throtte
Get it in the air, and cut it back until you can get it trimmed. IF your comfortable with the throws after its trimmed, open the throttle up and check it out.
Have fun. Use a little right rudder on takeoff, it will help keep it straight.
