That doesn't sound out of line. The tip tanks on my Nosen were made from 1/2 balsa , balsa spacers, etc., then glassed and painted. I'm thinking yours will be lighter than mine. I did utilize the space inside each tank for the battery and circuit board for the strobe lights in each tank tip.
