Default Strange problem, please help!

So I'm relatively new in the nitro RC sport and recently purchased a used Jammin' CRT .5 mini truggy with the spectrum DX2.0 transmitter/receiver. Here's the scenario (will try to best explain it).

I first plugged everything in once I got it to try it out. I noticed that my throttle would go fine, but my brakes wouldn't budge. I messed around with the settings (after reading the manual of course) on the spektrum, butstill couldn't get it to work. After a while the servo stripped on the inside....and wouldn't work at ALL. This particular servo was a futaba. So i came to the forums here and ordered a metal geared Hitec servo to install on the truggy.

I installed the servo today and the same problem. Here's what's even more strange. If I REVERSE the servo for the throttle, it moves the servo both ways (as in: I hit throttle and the brakes move, I hit the brakes and the throttle moves). If I put the servo back to normal, ONLY the throttle works. The brakes just sit there (although at one point they worked for a few seconds).

So you'd think the receiver/transmitter might be bad right? At least that's what I thought. So I took the receiver completely out and replaced it with my cheap analog OFNA one that came with my Hyper ST Truggy. The SAME PROBLEM occured. No brakes unless I reverse the servos.

So I plugged everything back in to the spectrum gear one last time and my brand new hitec servo began to smoke....and now is completely dead.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions?
