I'd call them back and explain that you find the kit completely unsatisfactory and ask how to arrange for an exchange or refund. Once they understand the gravity of your situation, they might just change their tune. If they read these forums they'll know that they'd better do something and fast! A piece of bad publicity like this could cost them a LOT of business.
