Aluminum is not expensive, it make have cost alot to machine though.
high grade aluminum is darn expensive.. and machining aluminum is even more expensive cause you waste most of it. so you have to buy a big chunk of it and only to machine it away. plus theres the cost of labour and bits.. that said i wouldnt pay that much for it. a foot of 6 inch square solid 6061 costs around 200 bucks.. not cheap at all.
people say steel is cheap but for a foot of inch and a half DOM tubing its 30 bucks..
