You're supposed to keep the truggy nice and rich during break in, just get it up to about 220 to 230 degrees, and then set it at BDC (Bottom dead center) by rotating the flywheel until you feel the least resistance. Start running the truggy for three minutes, and then add a minute every time until it has about 20 to 30 minutes total runtime on it. Be sure to set the piston at BDC every time you stop the engine. Let it cool to room temperature, and then run it again, don't cool it using fluid or anything, maybe compressed air.

After you do that, or until you feel the metal pinch is gone, you can tune it to best performance, but keep it so that it smokes out of the exhaust while accelerating.
