Remove the bent shock-did not take any of them apart
Extend it all the way
Wraped electric tape around a set of Vice Grip needle nose pliers(so as not to mar the rod)-install right above the bend
Took another set of pliers,wrapped tape around the jaws and went just below the bend and make the shock rod straight
I took my time-looked-bent a tad more-etc

Sorry--forgot to add this:
Removed shock-took of retainer and removed the SPRING-then proceeded to straighten
