I fly alone frequently, and enjoy it. I don't have to wait for others, no distractions, etc. You do need to be extra safety-conscious, though. The only time I've gotten hurt (once) with a model was when I was at the field with a large group: one careless & distracted moment while hand-launching a 'STEPS' airplane.
