I appreciate your candidness on the wing structure.
In my opinion I think that removing a section of sheeting and adding some reinforcement to the ribs is a simple task. To me it is much easier than starting from scratch but this is just my opinion.
Mine will fly with the mods mentioned; however before doing so I will sand bag the fuselage center section with weights to check wing deflection both positive and negative.
It will not take to the friendly skies until I am satisfied with the integrity of the structure.
I plan on devoting some serious time after work this week and will post a report later.

Why not just fill the existing wings with expandable foam? Cut out some weep holes and filler up. I've never tried this but it sounds like it could work.
