I wouldnt say the rustler is competitive its more a basher truck you say the rest of the guys are running top of the line? then unless your a great driver you aint got much of a chance tbh [

The vxl has the speed and power but the handling is more important for racing no good having bags of power but no handling they will leave you in the corners for sure.
Id see what the rest of the guys are running ask about see what they think is better on the track it will give you some ideal of what to get.
I know the Associated T4 is a great little ST
