You don't really NEED the blank backplate. Just leave the pullstart. When you push down, push on the engine head, when the engine is hot, I used to push down on the glow ignitor. If that doesn't work look for burn marks on the bottom of the chassis from the wheel rubbing the chassis. Another thing you will probably have to do since it is very tight, actually to start, loosen up the glow plug and see if that works.

ok i'll check for the marks on the chassis, but I trid loosening the glow plug and that didn't work either. i'll probably buy the roto start like I bought my gf the one that madmax posted... or i'll juste use hers :P
Main question are you pushing down from hte engine head and leaning forward a bit? That is what I had to do with mine, impossible to push down from the each end of the chassis.
