Yeah, anything that will cut the CA will probably attack the plastic. Once the CA is mechanically removed, you can get the canopy clear without shooting the clear coat by wet sanding and then using polishing compounds. A lot of work, but I have done it before and it works fine. Sand up to 2000 grit, then polish with medium to fine cutting compounds. Might be easier to shoot the clear on it.
