Well, of course it is a bit annoying when it happens, but I look at it this way - crashing is a part of the hobby, - build - fly - crash
I hate to rebuild planes after a crash, so after a couple of months or so I throw it away. I simply didn't care to rebuild it.
Right now I don’t have plans to build another Zero, but sometime in the future I sure will.

May I ask how you added radii in the cowling for the gun barrels?

Do you mean the two long oval holes on the top of the cowl?
If so, I used a hacksaw with a thin blade for metal.
