Yecla fly in, Spain
Just returned from a great few days flying at the Aeomodelisimo Club Yecla annual event ( Near the Costa Blanca). This happens every year, in the second weekend of September, to coincide with the local fiesta celebrations. Although not exclusively jets there was a good turn out of some of Spains top flyers. The runway is 200meters of good tarmac, with ample under and overshoot areas. A crowd of 3000 attended, plus the local TV and a display by a Spanish Airforce mirage fighter. The youngeest pilot was only 4 and flew his Boomerang jet to a very good standard. Commiserations to Andres Sales who lost his beautiful Aermacchi MB339, due to a fuel problem and to Sebastian Ramon whos Eurosport suffered a similiar fate. A big thanks to the organisers who made us feel most welcome, with free refreshments, meals and the local wine. A must for next year.
