Default RE: Cooked Motors repair Post

How many magnetpoles?
How many statorpoles (teeth?)
All teeth wound or half of the teeth wound?
Phil maybe?

Count the number of winds when removing the winds. Wires wound in parallel (2, 20, 100, ...) count as 1 single wire. Also figure out if the phases are hooked up in delta (end of one phase connected to begin of next phase) or star (all beginnings connected together).

Do you want the same motor character back or do you want a motor with more rpm (and less torque) or a motor with lower rpm (and more torque?)

For given number of winds, use thickest wire possible. Use all the space in the slots, lower resistance, higher efficiency, higher power/weight ratio.

Go to your local motor/transoformer rewinder/refurbisher, all gauges, excellent qualitly, you'll probably get the wire for free.
