Oh man, me and a childhood friend used to have a blast with those things. In fact, I was just visiting him last month - hadn't seen each other in years - and we talked about playing with those Jet-X models
I remember me and my best friend Smitty (now deceased) used to stop in the local hobby store and we used to build those small fighter looking planes and cover them with tissue then dope the covering.
We never painted them.We hooked on that jet-x and let it go.
We used the cheap jetx and it dodn't get that hot.
I think we paid 50 cents for a small tin full of the pellets.
I think every kid in school had one in his pocket and 95% of them never flew a plane
