Hmmm. Try keeping a toy at hand to reward him and let him chew on it for a while after giving it to him(this will also help with the teething. I would hold off on edible rewards until his teeth have matured a little (about 2 months). He isn't chewing up furniture and such is he?
EDIT: You can use dog treats for miniature dogs if you want as well.
