RE: VQ Hurricane .46 size
I'am having the wingtips, cockpit interior, and the canopy done. The wingtips & cockpit interior are already done, when I use the term "going out to paint" I'm reffering to the canopy going to my dads friends house to be painted. I look at it as I'm just bettering the looks of the plane ; the wingtips would look better red, the interior would look better black, and the canopy would look better white. I'm not drastically modifying the scheme, just small details. The off-white parts didn't match anyway, and I like to always add a unique touch to any of my planes (whether it be a cool decal, a part painted a certain color, etc.) I agree with you about the Yak 3 ; a Yak 9 or a Polikarpov I-16 would really be awesome or just any Russian fighter would be pretty neat.
