Hi all,

I've got a Sebart Angel S 30E that i hope to maiden tommorrow and enter in the novice class of a pattern comp next weekend.

The manual's suggested control throws are 20 degrees on low rates and 50 degrees on high rates. The control surfaces are pretty large as the model is more of a dual purpose pattern/3D design.

The ailerons and elevator size is 103mm and high/low rates equates to 35mm and 78mm control throws respectively.
The rudder size is 132mm and high/low rates equates to 45mm and 100mm control throws respectively.

I'm not intending to do any 3D with this model so the control throws seem excessive to me.

With the longest arms on my servo's and the endpoints set at 140% i still cannot get anywhere close to the suggested high rates. About 30 degrees is the max i can get.

I tried an aftermarket servo arm which increased the control throws to about 40 degrees but then i noticed that the longer arms significantly magnified the slop in the servo gears which isn't apparent with the small servo arms.

My question is what control throws are needed for pattern. Would it be better if i used less than suggested for for pattern?
