I guess they could change the crankshaft journal size to get a larger displacement, but an increase in compression would suggest a milled head,or a thinner head gasket, maybe a dome piston.
If it's as good as the 50, it will be a winner for sure.[8D]
The new 55 and 111 have different head/piston/crankcase and cylinder gasket
The bore is 2mm bigger, stroke is the same. And compression is up from 7.5 to 7.6. Does have a dome head piston, but so does the 50/100
Rest of engine is the same as the 50 & 100
The skirt at the bottom of the cylinder is 2mm larger in diameter, and the crankcases have been bored out a short depth where its meet the head to accomodate the new head/skirt.
Crank, Reeds, Carby, new prop hub etc are all interchangeable with the 50 & 100
The new head is missing the bottom cooling fin, except for a short stub under the exhaust outlet. But the rest of the fins are now square from top to bottom, and no longer taper/reduce in size from top to bottom if you look at side on.
I pulled a new 55 and 111 apart to verify.
Cheers
