Riiight...I suppose I should be worshipping the US for that? given that Germans never had any real intention of invading; even in 1940/41 when at full strength, Sealion was nothing more than a propaganda stunt and the RAF single-handedly devastated the Luftwaffe. By the time the US got involved (and only after you had been attacked), German strength was concentrated in the East where the REAL war was always destined to be thought. The Western and Mediterranean fronts were side-shows next to that cataclysm...
It's also worth mentioning that time and again, the US forces (who refused to study seasoned British tactics) were badly mauled - murdered at Kasserine by the remnants of Rommel's DAK, shot to pieces over Germany in foolhardy daylight rays and torpedoed without mercy in the 'Second Happy Time' by obsolete U-boats.
