I recently finished this ARF and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the way that it flies. Very smooth and stable and it hasn't shown any bad habits. Just a fun and relaxing plane to fly. I put nearly two hours of flight time on it today and still have a big dumb grin on my face! This is my first Cub and a welcomed addition to my current fleet.
The included instructions are a little vague in a place or two, but anyone who's built a couple of ARFs won't have any trouble with it. I found all of the hardware to be usable. The only hardware that I didn't use was the screws. I much prefer the socket head screws from RTL Fasteners. It makes assembly and maintenance easier in my opinion. One important thing that I noticed during the build is that the firewall has no down thrust built in, so I added a couple of washers to add the needed down thrust. An easy solution, but it's not mentioned in the instructions.
I've powered mine with a Saito 82 with a MAS 14x6 prop and opted for a Slimline Pitts style muffler. This combo gives more than ample performance and cruises very nice at half throttle. Though I'm still running my motor slightly rich, 20 min. flights aren't a problem. I also opted to use DuBro 5 inch wheels and trimmed the plane out in my own scheme.
Out of the box, the covering was tight and it seems to be well built. It was also packed well.
If you're thinking about getting a Cub, then give this one a look. It's the most 'bang for the buck' that I've gotten in quite some time.
