Good points so far.
At our club (>80 members and often having 4 flyers up at a time) we've integrated helicopters at the flightline for several years now. I mention this because the flight envelope and area usage for 3D fixed wing is quite similar. There were a lot of skeptics but, as long as the runway is clear for anyone wishing (and clearly announcing) their intention, this hasn't been a problem. Endless close-in hovering (by any type) is audibly annoying (and frightening to some) so it's discouraged. Hovering is 'encouraged' to take place at the far side of the runway to allow others to hear their engine....
