I cut the slots in the cowl in an attempt to get hot air out from around the motor. The bottom front of the cowl (Chin) is all open so large amounts of air can get in. I also cut away a good portion of the firewall to get air into the fuselage to cool the batterys some and holes in the belly behind the wing to get air out away from the batterys. Seems to work OK as I've not seen any cooling problem. Motor and batterys have only been slightly warm at the end of a flight. Cowl is attached with 4 # 4 screws.
