I have thought about the 4 shoe but I will just keep the High stall clutch from HPI till I put a better engine the 2.
I was hoping to get more then 2 gallons through these engines
From my experience, the 8,000 RPM spring on the stock HPI clutch is part of the problem causing the pre-mature bearing failure. I tested this on 3 engines & had the same results on all 3, with different amounts of use on each of them. The 4 shoe clutch will stay better balanced & allow the bearings to last a bit longer. I run the Elcon & have had much better luck with bearings, since installing this clutch.
