yes the 1/12 scale are faster than anything you have ever seen, and IMO they are the easiest to handle RC cars.
3.7V (4.2V fully charged ) is perfect for this size car especially that the motors used are 3000kv or more.
My 1/12 scale Associated 12R5 uses a 1S2P 6000mAh pack for power and that I custom built for my own use and a 7.4V 150mAh pack to power the RX directly , it's a Riot to drive. No BEC here, mainly becasue ther is little room, I run the 2S lipo directly into the RX.
