thats what i thought at first too, that there was play around the connecting rod or in the wrist pin. yet it only makes the noise turning counter clockwise, not clockwise. and after looking down the exuahst port and seeing the piston, i found that there was no visible slop in the engine when i turned it over.
as for the flex cable, i think the camera exagerates the angle of the shaft a bit, it's pretty much paralell with the engine.
