Are you going to use AMA rule book planes? The "rule book plane" with a TD moves pretty good with a 5x3. If you are going to allow smaller, thinner and lighter planes, then the 4.2x4 might work. APC makes other props in this range.

The nice thing about the Cox rubber 5x3 is that it's basically a life time prop. A decent TD should turn it 22,000 to 24,000 on 30-40% nitro. If you limit the nitro to 15%, you'll more than double the plug life..

Our local club's record is held by a Cox rubber 5x3, which seems pretty amazing.
