I did what you are thinking about - the complete 9c radio system with the S3151 digital servos for $289 on clearance at my local hobby shop. Later I went and bought a 2.4 module and receiver set up. It worked out a lot less than the 10c which doesn't come with servos either. If both 9c and 7c radio systems are new, you can't go wrong either way.
