I really appreciate the additional information you have given us, Iflyglow.
I have read the report and I have watched the video several times.
I agree with you, something seems to be missing in the puzzle.
There were so many people watching both planes coming for landing, including organizers and tower controllers, and nobody communicated or signaled any alert.
Specially when no tandem landing was scheduled.
The pilot of the rear plane was much more experienced than the pilot of the front plane.
Simply, he was certain that he was landing alone, he announced the landing, and nobody told or signed him what was going on.
The report states that the pilot of the front plane took a shortcut in approach and that his canopy was open and noisy enough as to prevent him from listenning the anounce for landing of the rear pilot.
I imagine it was something traumatic for your daughter to witness.
All very sad.
Beck's short biography:

Last year was the first year since 07 that She wanted to go, and it mainly was for the A380, but did not want to stay for the entire show.

Thats ok since I am there most of the days anyhow. She has never said anything since, but I am sure that sticks in her mind.
I myself have been there many different times over the years when acciedents happen, and they never really anounce anything, and all you will see is a little article in the local paper, and then nothing after that.
Even Patty Wagstaff's drunken driving episode down the runway a few years ago didn't make the paper much

, other than here trying to fight it in the court system a year later.

I was there several years ago, when a Jet crashed in a subdivision, and they did not announce anything. You could hear the crash, see the smoke and hears sirons, but they did not say a peep over the loud speaker.
This would not be the first Heavy Metal inciedent there, as a Corsair was taking off several years ago, and Clipped Howard Purdues Bear Cat. The Corsair cart wheeled down the runway in a Ball of flame, but they never announced what happened to the pilot. I think He was Burned extremely bad, but I am not sure he ever even lived.
