I've seen a number of people who have started with the Firebird XL, and they sem to like them okay. (Someone here on EZone says the Aerobird is quite a bit better, but I've never flown any of them.)
These small electrics will let you fly, but they do not have the power or aerobatic capabilities of glow powered aircraft. From everything I've seen and read, if you enjoy the hobby, you will be looking for bigger, more powerful stuff soon. And that WILL cost money.
Maybe you should look for a paper route, or mow lawns or something to fund this adventure.
