I gotta agree: the loss of any of that canopy material could not in any way I can think of cause un-commanded rolling of the airframe. Think about it: rolling requires a force applied orthoganally to the plane's X-Y plane, outboard, away from the center-line (to give it some moment arm). No way a hole in the canopy can do that. That is why we have ailerons out on the outboard area on the wing.
