Here is some footage (97% of flight, missed the landing cam ran out of tape) of my eurosport from this past sunday. Nothing too crazy, still trying to get the plane tuned on the new radio (9Z) but does have some high alpa, full power slide turns, a high speed pass or two as well..... Just a lazy sunday flight ..... File is quite big (about 27mb), about 10 min fight in fairly high resolution. Might want to right click the link and save the file locally....
Hope you enjoy...
Todd

You will want more fuel than 2 liters in this bird. Tanks really depend on if you plan to install intakes or not (highly recommend the intakes, flown both ways and they do make a big difference!). Without intakes you can mount one big tank in the center, with intakes you will need dual tanks. Planes plus and Tamjets both sell tanks for this plane (single and dual) and I believe tam has some nalgene tanks for it as well. I'm running dual kevlar tanks for a total of about 160oz of fuel (12 min flights). I am quite heavy on takeoff but as you can see from the video, it's not a problem, just have to burn a bit of fuel before you can get real wild with it. Currently, I still have the p-120 in it, performance is better on P-160, climb out from alpha is improved greatly.... todd

Todd,

AWESOME video!!!! My orange Euro will be here by the end of the week. Tam is making me a set of intakes. I've downloaded all of your mods but I'll bet I will have to call you to make sure everything is right. That Cobra was the best one that I've ever seen a model do! Are you really that good or does this model make you look that good???

And......Don't you know that friends don't let friends fly Futaba?!?!?!?!?

Thanks Kevin,
Glad to hear your finally getting the Euro! Actually, this flight was fairly mild for me.... Usually allot lower and a bit less restrained. The throws are not quite where I like them yet and my expo is not high enough (twitchy). Also experimenting with throttle curves and I think I am getting close to perfect there. I have to say the plane makes me look better than I really am, it's really a ***** cat to fly once you get it tuned right and !QUOT!Feel!QUOT! the flight envelope. As you can see, stalls are strait and it just drops the nose a tad.... Your gonna love this plane, nothing I have ever flown flies like the eurosport! I'll PM you my number, call me any time (except this weekend, off to the Bahamas for a short 3 day vaca).....

Thanks Todd.

Im going to use my simjet 23lb turbine...... I know I know.... it wont be very powerful.
I think the 2 liter, and a 0,5 liter hopper tank wil be enough for me. If it will fit.
I planed on making my own intake.....it depends on how it all looks like. Ill have to have it in my own hands first [8D]

But it is "only" the 120 in the video?
it fly`s very nice indeed....or you do at least

Todd, was that your original one that you offered to let me fly at Fla Jets last year? Where is that awesome field? That's the same field where the Tango met it's maker at, right? Nice footage!

Performs just like my $25 S.P.A.D. !

Just kidding Todd. Liked the video and the Eurosport seems to really fly great. Love the high alpha's and slow fly-bys.

Todd,

I purchased a miniature wireless on-board color video camera transmitter w/sound the other day. I plan on making a fiberglass pod for the camera to fit under the nose of the EuroSport, just forward of the intake. I think that it would be fun to see what a pilot would experience doing the same manuevers you were doing. I'll let you know if it works.

B727,

I did watch a few of the gripen vids, looks like it may handle similar to the Euro but hard to tell. Havent seen the kit or it fly in person so it would be hard for me to comment on it. If the plane is of the same quality as their F-15, they should have a winner on their hands. Hope to see one fly at Florida Jets...

Kevin,
Cant wait to see the video, might make you sick just watching the tape [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]....BTW, forgot to ask you last night....you coming to florida jets?
Regards,
Todd

I would imagine so, it is quite a bit smaller and the airframe has alot less drag! Eurosport is not a speed airplane, slowflight is where the fun begins....

Todd,
Great flying!
Should have mine finished in the next few weeks. To cold right now to fly it anyway. First flight should be around the 1st of march.
I may be calling you if I run into any problems stuffing this bird.

I Know Bob..... Been slackin off too much. Have the scheme figured out, been busy building a euro for a friend and spending time with the wife but hope to have the Euro and the Bobcat painted by FJ. I have full armament and wing tanks to install as well...... Both should be done by Mid Atlantic at the latest. Expecting my Santorin this week, gonna try and bang that at for FJ as well, be nice to paint all three at the same time.
Dave...feel free to contact me if needed

Great, Todd.

Thanks for posting. It's nice to see a jet flying so slowly and looking so stable.

Todd,

I would like to attend Florida jets but I can't make a commitment to attend as of now. I would like to make a family vacation out of it.... If I leave my family for a week day overnight stay it leaves my wife in a bind concerning my toddler son. She has to be at work before the daycare opens. It won't be too long before I'll be able to take my "bitty buddy" with me.[8D]

Concerning the in flight video...It would be fun to be able to make video clips of the flight from two perspectives, one from the ground like yours was shot and the other from in flight. Let's say you do a couple of 720 degree/second rolls. The video would show the rolls as shot from the ground and then the in flight shot of the rolls could be edited in as seen from a pilot's perspective. The entire flight could be done that way. I know of one guy that has video editing equipment...I'll see if he'll put together a tape for us.

Yes Mark, same plane.... Still flying the original fiberclassics version. Stopped counting how many flights I have on it... well over 200. The field is in Ocala, about 1 1/2 hour drive for me so I only get out maybe twice a month but I pack as many flights in as I can in a day. Nicest field in the state of florida for sure!
As for the Tango....Yes, lost it this weekend []. First jet I have lost due to pilot error since I started flying turbines. Was playing around with the new radio setup and experimenting with slow flight. Guess I got it a bit too slow at high angle of attack and it snapped on me hard. To make things worse, I fought the snap with opposite rudder, up elevator and power instead of dropping the nose to build speed up and fly out. Ended up snapping again on the recovery [X(]. Luckily, no damage to anything but the airframe. I'll throw another together .
Here is the video of the tango crash http://www.lov2flyrc.com/video/Tango_crash.wmv
Hope to see you down here in march! Euro flights are still waiting for you [sm=surprised.gif]

No....The ES will not snap. The canards stall before the wing. The wings also have washout so the ES just drops the nose in a stall. Tango crash was my fault!
BirdOfPray (dave) has started to rebuild the Tango as seen in another thread in the jet forum.
