Default 2.4GHz 600mw System (Aerobird Extreme)

Here is some video from several flights today. I put my 600mw TX in place for some tests.

I have the same plane can you e-mail me pics of how you installed everything on your plane?

Nice one Steve! Looks just like the video I got from my Extreme......including the upside-down landings! After watching the video from my Challenger the difference in speed is quite noticable. I'm quite amazed you managed to land in such a small area as well...great landing. All in all it was just first class...

That was really very good video. Looks sorta like what I shot around here this morning while doing some tests on my own stuff. Skycam41 has graciously offered to convert one of my tapes to something he can post so I will also have some pretty soon.

I have sinced played around with my installation a bit (put the gear on my F27). I need to get it back onto the ABX. Here is a video that shows the installation. I built a "L" bracket from scrap sheet metal and mounted the camera,TX and power converter to it. I just velcro'd this "sled" to the side of the extreme right between the X-Port and the wing. This installation worked very well and was easy to install and remove.

I'm stuck using a library computer right now (in between computer systems) and it won't allow me to download video to disk or even open most. So I haven't been able to view any RC video up until now. Just for kicks I clicked on your videos and was surprised when they opened and played. All I can say is WOW! That's some great video and it gives me more incentive to get my Challenger's 800mw cam working. Troglotech and Randall have been a great help in finding a cheap cam and working out the engine noise problem (fixed by using a voltage regulator to filter out the noise and stabalize the input voltage). My current problem is the camera TX is blocking the plane's RX out at about 30 yards. I have to find a mounting position that won't cause this, as I did have the plane up once with the TX mounted on the left. I like the way you mounted everything together and I might try that. Currently I've had the cam on the canopy sloping downward with a flimsy plastic "L" mount and velcro. The plastic has broke on me twice trying to get the plane to fly, so I'm switching to more sturdy plastic or other material. Had the TX mounted with velcro on the RHS body above the Xport but as said this is causing range problems. Might try mounting the TX on the nose or elsewhere. Anyway, GREAT video.

Yea, you're probably putting the camera tx right over your plane's rx. That's not good.
I'd try somewhere on the side if possible, with the tx's antenna pointing down.

It might be a combination of the frequency and power. Mine worked ok at 2.4GHz with 600mw where I had it mounted. I have since gone back to using my 200mw TX since there was not much difference in range and quality. Good luck and thanks for the kind words!

Yes. All of my stuff is from BlackWidow. I have a KX121 camera a reciever and two transmitters (one 200mw and one 600mw). I also have a circular patch antenna. I have the equivelent of one of the current brown-bag systems (with an extra transmitter).

Video really adds a new dimention to the hobby. There are lots of folks out there selling similar equipment, but Bill at BlackWidowAV really stands behind his stuff and is willing to help if you run into any problems. We all look forward to seeing your videos!
