RE: Pusher AP plane build thread
Thanks claimster...that's what I had in mind also.
I have one wing panel basically completed...just waiting on the epoxy to dry for the boom mount plates.
A question for you experienced builders. As there will be no dihedral I will not be using the included dihedral brace. The OEM wing joiner/dihedral brace was a 2-pieces of lite ply that was glued to the forward and aft sides of the main spar with nothing in between the top and bottom spars. Should I go about joining the wing in the same manner making my own 2 peices of ply or would I be better off using a solid piece of hardwood between the top and bottom spars...I guess I could do both but that might be overkill. Any thoughts?
The pictures show my dowel brace up against the leading edge as I plan to use a bolt on wing. The dowel will go through the leading edge and through the wing joiner as I do not think it will be strong enough just to go through the leading edge only.
Hey, I'm open to suggestions so please feel free to offer them
Cheers
Mike

I used one piece the same size as the original on the Grey Ghost, I guess the benefit of two pieces is you sandwich epoxy in there and its stronger, I use copious amounts of epoxy on wing connections.
Yeah, I sold my Eyetops, I didnt like them, I dunno they LOOK okay...

Nice wing joiners.
They look to be lazer cut and with a few degrees of dihedral. I thought you were going to make a flat wing?

Yeah, they are the stock wing joiners. I just posted a picture of them to show where they fit. I think I will just use a straight piece of ply on either side of the spar as the originals would have been.

I keep forgetting you have the wing KIT. Its a little different than the ARF. Make two straight ones, thatll do it.

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread
Ahhhh, stuck and need some help from a "generous" model builder! I have been searching for some hardwood to make a wing joiner and in this one horse town where I live I have struck out finding wood, let alone being able to cut it. Is there anyone out there that could send me 2 pieces of 1/8" hardwood 8" long and 1.5" high with the grain running lengthways? Yes, I am fully prepared to pay for services and supplies rendered...
Cheers

RE: Pusher AP plane build thread
I can do that for you Mike.
By 1/8 inch hardwood you mean the 5 ply hard plywood for your new joiners correct? Send me your address at my home email account and I'll get them on the way to you tomorrow. Don't worry about paying me up front. Tell me how you want them mailed, (fast?) and we'll take it from there.

I've had a few issues lately with things not looking right. After I click OK nothing happens. I let it set a little bit and hit it again. Then it goes and I see a double post. Sorry about that guys. I'll have to be more patient or take a look at my settings. Hmmmmm.

Scott,
In your picture above, is that piece of carbon tube in the wing just a building aid or is that sized as a socket to plug your boom in to?

I was seeing how they would fit into the wing when I took that picture. I've wanted to have retracts for the 'Predator' look on my plane. After tinkering around with the idea for a few hours I removed them and went to a standard landing gear. Maybe in my August version I'll put the retracts back in. First I need to look at a few plans with retracts in the design. That should give a better idea of what I'm trying to do.

Are you building a Predator AP bird? I would be interested in seeing more pictures if you like?
Cheers
