End of wireless systems ?

Hi,

I was just wondering if wireless systems are about to get out of point (say in about 2 years time).
Indeed, you can now buy digital cams with better video capabilities than wireless systems for 200 bucks.
Sure, the potential crash may make us hesitate to put our cam onboard...
What do you think ?

I don't think you'll see wireless go away because of the ability to see the video as it's being recorded. One of the things I get a kick out of are the comments the locals make when they watch my television as I'm flying and taping. I actually have both digital and live video in my plane. My Kadet has a total of 3 onboard cameras. I have two live video cameras, with one on the nose and one under the belly looking aft, and a digital still camera on the belly looking out the side.
I have one small camera that I can hook into my video system, that will be aimed in the same direction as my digital in order to line up shots and not have it be so random.

I am after video more than stills and there isnt the video cam made that will fit on a slope combat plane. Cant put a camcorder on a parkflyer either.
Now if I had a Senior Telemaster or Flying King, I might put a camcorder aboard that but it still wouldnt replace the wireless applications I need.

Most of our systems are adapted from wireless surveylance equipment, so I don't see the units fading from the market anytime soon. It's a bit more equipment to carry around but you would be surprised at the crowd that forms around my monitor whenever I fly the camera :D

My video plane is a Kadet Senior with a top mounted Thunder Tiger .61 and 14X4 prop. My cameras are all mounted with receiver foam.

Video links give you on board presence. That’s not only highly appealing, but helps line up specific photography. Watching the video after you get home can reveal both wonderful surprises, and grave disappointments. I see a combination of the two as the best long term solution.

This is very interesting. I am using the 3700 with a downlink. The video I get back from the camera when it is on preview is very good. I can record my video and shoot stills. Of course when shooting the stills you see what the camera screen see's. But, it is still nice.
