BLIP CAMERA PROBLEM

Greetings to all.....

I've purchased one of the BLIP Digital Camera's earlier this year. I've mounted it in the Mountain Model "Magpie AP". The plane flys beautifully and the camera was taking GREAT pics. Then all of a sudden, the camera started taking pictures with very distored colors. I rechecked all of my connections, cleaned the memory card contacts, yada yada yada and still weird pics.

My frustration continued further after I sent numberous emails to the BLIP Camera outfit in Austrailia, with no response at all. The emails were not bouncing so I must ASSUME they were going thru. So, my question to you is, if your using or have used this blip camera, have you experienced anything regarding picture color distortion. If so, how was it corrected.

I was hoping to hear from the people at BLIP, perhaps a warranty replacement, repair offer or even a suggestion of something to try!
Zip, Zero Nada......

What do you guys suggest.

RE: BLIP CAMERA PROBLEM

Yes, I get the "wierd stuff" when the motor is running - MP Jett brushless, Lipo, etc in a Thunder Tiger Sparky. (so I just take pictures in a glide :) )

Try wrapping some aluminum foil around all your power wires, including battery and motor leads. That should shield it enough to make it work.
You can also try, if you have room in the plane, to seperate the camera from anything with power - in other words, move them away from each other.

Good luck!

RE: BLIP CAMERA PROBLEM

Out of curiosity, what type of power source is powering up your camera? (i.e. are you using a BEC off of your motor controller or are you using a battery pack). Aipteks can be very funny in that they can experience this color distortion when powered from a source other than two AA cells. I mod my cameras so that they connect directly to the USB connector (no worries about the camera auto turning off either when powered this way) and this method of powering filters and regulates the input voltage. Does any one know if Blip uses a voltage regulator in their design? (i hope so). I think they are simply powering up the camera using the original battery terminal connections.

RE: BLIP CAMERA PROBLEM

I'm not sure what exactly is on that board, as far as a voltage regulator... I've never had a problem using power from the ESC via the reciever in my setup. Battery is TP 1900mah, 11.1v Lipo. (usually. sometimes other packs :) )

In my setup, I have the camera set up to take a picture every 40 seconds or so to keep itself from shutting off. That gives me a few really wierd pictures due to the interference from the motor(if running). The pictures taken in a glide are nice and clear, no funky colors.

That's a good idea to use the USB connector, I might do that. [sm=thumbup.gif]

And here's how to do just that...
