Default Ultimate Biplane Swept Gear

Looks like a lot interesting folks here....I am working on an Ultimate Biplane which needs a Landing gear built for it,,,,,, What was the original intent of the swept back gear ?/ Doesn't that place a leverage or pulling force against the mount. ? Im assuming something to do with gear to CG relationship ...I'm trying to get my head wrapped around this concept........Plane is approaching AMA limits so trying to design something in lighest material.

Go here for a custom landing gear.

Yes the location of the landing gear in relation to the CG is very important for good ground handling. A rule of thumb is to have the axle of the wheel at the leading edge of the wing with the plane sitting on the ground. Dan.

And swept back allows you to build the support ahead of the wing in a fuselage strong spot.

PS - the Ultimate was a real plane based on an R/C model instead of the usual other way around.
