Default Symmetrical/ Semi Airfoil for Intermediate Sport Low Monoplane Trainer

Hi all,

Planning for next aircraft to scratch build a basic low wing intermediate Sports Trainer. Planning to utilize similar dimensions & wingspan to my Boomerang 40 but without the Dihedral. I'm not looking for a speed demon but some thing in the Tiger 40 vein as a First low winger. I am familiar with various Airfoil design sites but looking for a reasonable well behaved Airfoil. Suggestions welcome.

Regards,

RW

Kaos has always been one of my favorites.

My designs have been scale aircraft but they have flown like a low wing sport model. If you want a semi-symmetrical airfoil, I suggest NACA 23xx, where the axis the percent maximum thickness to chord ratio. I like this airfoil because the high and low points of the upper and lower camber are at the same percentage of the chord, 30% IIRC. This makes it easy to create an "I" beam spar at the thickest part of the wing. 15% thick will be plenty strong.

Thanks Chuck I'll check it out. Got my Wings today but I'll be on the trainer a while yet getting stick time.
