When you open a window to type a post and it takes more than certain time, sometimes the system does just that and all the text is lost.
Not always it happens, but I have also lost text after a long pre-post.
I have created the habit of making a copy of it to the memory of my computer (highlight text+Ctrl+C keys) each time I write a long post and before I click on the OK to submit it, just in case it happens.
