control surface harmonics
Today i was flying a hob p51 with os25fx and when i went into a high speed dive it started to make a harmonic sound. The result was my servo didnt have enough torque for the elevator to pull out, bad crash. Was this harmonic from the lack of torque on the elevator or maybe the wing resonating.Any other quesses. I had a rounded trailing edge on the elevator, would a sharp edge be better. How can i solve this for the next one, besides increasing torque. If anyone has built these for high speeds some building tips would be helpful.
Thanks |
RE: control surface harmonics
it was flutter.
the elevator was vibrating so much it either stripped the gears in the servo or broke the linkage/hinge. i believe rounded t/edges can induce flutter, sharp or square is ideal. a good slop free solid linkage from servo-horn helps too |
