Twin engine down thrust
I am finishing up building a 1/12 semi-scale PBM twin engine flying boat. (About 103WS at 17 lbs with 2 TT .46)The plans have the wing at 2+ from the datum but he has the engines that are mounted on the wing straight off the wing so they also are +2 as well degrees. It seems to me that they should be at -2 so they are level with the datum. I have emailed the desiegner for his input but I am interested in your thoughts. PS I am not using any side thrust.

RE: Twin engine down thrust
Only experience with the design could dictate whether or not such a change is required aerodynamically.
The high wing position on a flying boat may very well need the upthrust to get the thing off the water. Downthrust would push the nose into the water. |
RE: Twin engine down thrust
I got my answer yesterday the engines are at 0 degrees so in essence the engines are -2 from the wing.
