Free Wind Tunnel Software ?
Hi
Can anyone tell me which is the best Free wind-tunnel software available and where to get it from ? |
Free software
There was an outfit sending out e:mail invites to model designers back in April to try out his software. He was listed here on RCU and so you may have to go through the archives.
However, it was software in which you inserted one coordinate at a time your airfoil, and then it got tested. There was altering functions, but no way to export the tested airfoil to CAD or other useable software once you got finished. Wm. |

If you are interested in determining the lift, drag and pitching moment characteristics of airfoils then X-Foil is your tool.
You can get a free download for the windows operating system from: http://www.charlesriverrc.org/ |

This site is interesting and very easy to use:

X-Foil
Jack,
I can't run windows programs on my Macintosh until I get a windows emulator like Virtual PC. My old version of virtual PC doesn't run on my Mac OSX. X-Foil was released as a free download after my emulator went obsolete. I have only seen the results of X-Foil, not how to use it. My guess is that you put in airfoil coordinates and reynolds number and get out the airfoil polars. |
