Trim ???
Great Planes .40 Extra 300 ARF with approximately 10 flights on it.
I've had it balanced a bit nose heavy for the test and triming flights- Going verticle it yaws left every time regardless of wind direction... I'm thinking it needs right thrust added. They say it's built into the firewall but I don't think it is. Any additional suggestions before I get into messing with it? It's a real pain because it effects all manuvers adversly, loops, hammer heads, and of course anything verticle although it's not as noticeable coming down verticle at idle.... That's what's making me suspect torque and p factor.... 270win |
RE: Trim ???
There's some trimming charts available on the 'net... maybe even here in the threads.
Search here and then the net. |
RE: Trim ???
Hello 270,
your problem can be either thrust or rudder (or both...) :) Have you trimmed your rudder first? Assuming this has been done (for full throttle condition), you can test your right thrust this way. Do a vertical climb with full throttle and let the plane go. When it slows down (and not before), observe if it yaws left. If so, you need more right thrust. Also, as Chipe Hyde suggest, right thrust can also be addressed by radio mixes. Bye! |
RE: Trim ???
First thing to check... is the plane balanced Laterally?
|
RE: Trim ???
Yes, it's balanced latterally.
I added some right thrust and will test fly it Monday weather permitting. The rudder appears to be straight and trimmed correctly. 270 |
RE: Trim ???
I flew it today... It tracks vertically like it's on rails! Thanks guys....
