I'm looking for the proper CG point on a CA Models Zaphiro pattern plane.

I am a beginner in RC and not a technical major, however, the publishers of Model Airplane News put out a book titled "Ultimate RC Flight Guide". On page 38, the book describes in detail how to calculate your own CG. This has been a great read and a good source of advanced RC info. Did the aircraft come with any instructions with CG location? Happy flying...

My answer might be too later, but for future reference go to the web and search for "MAC calculations", You'll find many site that show how to calculate the CG for any shape (planform) of wing.

There's links to MAC calculators and Neutral Point calculators in the FAQ threads pinned to the top of the thread listings in this forum. However that won't tell you what the proper CG point is supposed to be. For something that specific I suggest you ask in the Pattern area.

Isnt it typicly 30% of the wing chord from the leading edge? I could be wrong, but I remember reading that somwhere...

Pattern planes typically have a straight trailing edge and swept leading edge. This moves the m.a.c. back in reference to the wing chord at the root.
Finding the m.a.c. is the only reliable method for locating the c.g.
This one works for all shapes.
